was established in 2007, but were only creating and selling fine chocolates at the time. After a few years in business, they switched their focus to macarons and found their true calling.
The mastermind behind these macarons is Xuan Ngo. He was born in Vietnam, but grew up in Les Baux de Provence, France, where he gained experience and developed pastry skills. Xuan’s most prominent leg of his journey was here in the United States, where he worked at Daniel Boulud’s (a Michelin Star chef) restaurant, Daniel in New York. He traveled from NYC to Los Angeles, where he worked at several renowned restaurants and has now opened his very own business, XT Patisserie.
XT Patisserie started as a wholesale only operation, distributing their stellar macarons to various retailers, bakeries, restaurants, wine shops, and more. After a couple of years of building a successful business, they were ready to expand with a storefront. On October 25, 2014, they had their grand opening celebration and opened the doors to this storefront in La Habra, CA. Macaron lovers can now visit their patisserie to satisfy their cravings or purchase gifts for friends, especially with the holiday season right around the corner!
Upon entry of XT Patisserie, the ambiance gives a feel of a small café in Paris where several colorful macaron towers are displayed. Behind the glass fridge are a delicious display of macarons—16 flavors to be exact. The majority of the flavors are classic favorites, combined with the addition of several unique flavors like durian and taro.
The macarons we sampled, (and we sampled A LOT!) had a nice crunch on the outside of the macaron shell, followed by a soft and chewy texture on the inside—how all macarons should be. These macarons have been compared to some of the best, such as Laduree, Lette, Bottega Louie, etc., and they definitely hold their own.
