Churro Borough, the game changers of the ice cream sandwich, took it to a whole ‘nother level by making their own kind, the Churro Ice Cream Sandwich. Before the Churro carts at DownTown Disney, or other local shops started having churro ice cream sandwiches, Churro Borough was THE creator of it all.
Sylvia Yoo, the creator of Churro Borough tells us her concept of a churro ice cream sandwich has been around since 2009, and has had pop-ups in collaboration with local Los Angeles businesses and catering events since 2011. We’ve been following Churro Borough through Instagram, waiting for the day to come and FINALLY their official brick and mortar location in Los Feliz, CA has opened this week. Usually, we’ll know when a shop is about to open up, but Churro Borough played it sneaky and opened up shop with a 30 DAY timeline.
Churro Borough’s menu is simple and won’t have you holding up the lines deciding what to buy. They made it easy for us. Choose from any of the following: Paletas ( Mexican Popsicles), Cookies, Cupcakes, Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches with your flavor of ice cream choice, or Churro Fries with your choice of dipping sauces.
Check out what we ordered:
1. Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches with Blackberry Cheesecake Sherbert (THIS IS MONEY, most people ordered this flavor) and Chocolate Cookie Malt
2. Guava Paleta
3. Churro Fries with Guava dipping sauce – Their staff recommended the Guava dipping sauce and we were definitely hesitant, BUT excellent choice my man!
We came here an hour before closing on a soft opening day and the line was STILL long. Worth it? YEAH. You won’t have to chase them through social media anymore to see which spot they’ll be at next. The only thing you’ll need to chase now is when the line WON’T be long. There’s nothing better than a warm churro and cold ice cream in your hands. You don’t know whether to cuddle with it, or chow down. Guess who’s having sweet dreams tonight? US.
