Meet us at the bar, the B SWEET dessert bar that is. You know what caught our eye? — That Ube purple ice cream. It was calling our names.
Ube is a sweet purple yam that is popular in the Phillippines. People usually think it’s Taro due to the purple color, but it actually tastes similar to a nutty vanilla. The owner and chef, Barb Batiste of BSweet is Filipino herself. You know what that means?! Ube is served here. #ooohyeah
Chef Barb Batiste was the star of the show at family parties. She cooked delicious foods and baked awesome tasting desserts like pies, cookies, layered cakes, and more. She is an experienced pastry chef and always found herself coming back to her roots and baking sweets like her grandma used to make, which is how she became the owner and founder of B Sweet Catering. This is her passion, and she is simply the sweetest.
B Sweet started out with two dessert trucks, and eventually opened a brick and mortar shop in 2014. There’s a bar for you to stand inside and eat your sweets, but when it’s a nice day out…you’ll want to sit out here and soak up the SoCal sun.
They serve goodies like Bread Pudding, Cupcake in a jar, Sluttiest Brownie, Cookie Monster, Hummingbird Cake, Halo Halo, donut ice cream sandwiches floats, cookie dough, and so much more! There are two sizes for the bread pudding so either you want to be good (one scoop) or bad (two scoops), which one are you?
We had to get the Bread pudding with UBE ice cream on top and also the Halo Halo with all the fixings and UBE ice cream also. Chef Barb was so sweet, she sent us off with some goodies for the road. There aren’t too many Filipino bakeries or sweet shops, but when we find them… they NEVER disappoint!
Bsweet is actually having a 1 YEAR celebration on August 8th (5pm-11pm) and 9th (5pm-8pm), so don’t miss out!
